Stone Axe Pastoral is seeking a reliable and motivated Farm Hand to join our team at Boathaugh farm, just 5km from Karridale. This is a hands-on role and will suit someone who is machinery minded, enjoy practical work, takes ownership of outcomes, and values being part of a professional, well-run pastoral operation.
You’ll support the day-to-day running of the property, working across livestock care, machinery operation, and general farm maintenance including upkeep of fencing and water equipment.
What you’ll be doing
- Operating and maintaining farm machinery, including tractors and pasture improvement / fodder production equipment
- Assisting with livestock care, including feeding, watering, and yard work
- Carrying out general farm duties such as fencing, irrigation, cleaning, and maintenance
- Supporting upkeep and minor repairs of farm infrastructure and equipment
- Following safety procedures and contributing to a safe working environment
- Maintaining basic records relating to livestock, production, and farm activities
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience in a farm or agricultural environment (preferred)
- Practical knowledge of livestock and pasture-based farming systems
- Experience operating farm machinery; pasture improvement and fodder equipment experience highly regarded
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- A strong sense of accountability and pride in your work
