Role Tasks

Follow a comprehensive assessment that identify the needs, strengths, and goals of NDIS participants with a range of psychosocial and physical conditions.
Implement an individualised, evidence-based intervention plans focusing on improving participants’ abilities to perform daily activities, manage their mental health, and engage in their communities.
Implement therapeutic interventions that may include capacity building, skills training, environmental * minor and complex home* modifications, assistive technology applications, ART applications and evidence, and psychoeducation.
Collaborate with participants, their families, carers, and other professionals to coordinate care and support plans.
Advocate for participants’ needs and rights, ensuring their access to appropriate services and supports.
Monitor and review participants’ progress, adjusting intervention plans as necessary to reflect changing needs and goals.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, reports, applications, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with NDIS guidelines and OTCA professional standards.
Provide education and support to participants and their networks on the role of occupational therapy in promoting mental well-being.

Requirements

·Minimum -Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.

·Full AHPRA registration with no restrictions

·Professional indemnity insurance

·Demonstrated experience in a range of community settings, with a strong understanding of occupational therapy interventions for psychosocial and physical conditions.

·Knowledge of the NDIS framework, including experience developing and implementing plans for participants.

Minor and Complex Home modifications applications, Assistive technology applications, ART experience.

·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals with diverse needs.

·Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

·Current driver’s license, vehicle and willingness to travel to participants’ homes or community settings as required.

·Able to work in Australia

Preferred Qualifications

·Experience working with NDIS participants.

·Training or certification in specific therapeutic approaches relevant to mental health (e.g., CBT, DBT, sensory integration).

·Experience with complex and minor home modifications, Assistive technology trials, scripting and applications, ART experience.

·Understanding of the social model of disability and commitment to person-centred practice.

·Knowledge of local community services and resources for people with disabilities.

·Familiarity with cultural competency and the ability to work sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds and communities.
