ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a full-time (12-month fixed term) position. The successful candidate will be primarily based at our Mirrabooka Campus, reporting to the Student Support Manager.

In this role, the successful candidate supports students with disability, accessibility, inclusion, and learning equity needs to ensure equitable access to education and student services. They work closely with students, academic staff, and support teams to assess individual support needs, coordinate reasonable adjustments, and implement tailored support plans in line with legislative and institutional requirements. The role focuses on fostering a safe, inclusive, and student-centred learning environment while promoting equity, accessibility, wellbeing, and positive student outcomes across the College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adequately assess student educational support needs to ensure equitable access to education. (These may include modified assessment arrangements, assistive technology, accessible formatting, extensions to assignments, flexibility in attendance requirements)
  • Communicate and work effectively with key stakeholders
  • Provide a strengths-based approach to the management of disability
  • Provide education to staff on the appropriate needs and management of students with disability, or learning equity needs
  • Ensure friendly and psychologically safe access to the learning equity service
  • Internal promotion of learning equity services

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Qualifications and experience:

  • Completion of a relevant diploma or equivalent, with experience providing advice to students, particularly in relation to accessibility, inclusion or wellbeing support
  • Understanding of higher education disability support, reasonable adjustments, and inclusive learning practices
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Disability Discrimination Act, Disability Standards for Education, or other local accessibility regulations
  • Ability to manage, record, and monitor student support processes, maintaining accurate records in compliance with data protection policies • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to display high levels of empathy and effective conflict resolution skills, whilst maintaining confidentiality
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands
