ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a full-time, permanent position. The successful candidate will be primarily based at the West Perth Campus and will report to the Academic Registrar with functional direction from the Dean, Higher Education.
The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst – Higher Education plays a critical role in supporting academic governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making through the analysis and interpretation of complex academic and operational data. In this role, the successful person will lead the development of data insights, dashboards, and reporting frameworks that support course quality, student outcomes, progression, retention, and compliance activities aligned with TEQSA and the Higher Education Standards Framework. Working closely with academic leaders and stakeholders across the College, you will translate complex data into meaningful recommendations that drive continuous improvement, enhance academic performance, and support the College’s strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, analyse, and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualisations relating to student enrolments, retention, progression, completion, academic performance, student engagement, and course performance indicators.
- Conduct detailed analysis of complex datasets to identify trends, risks, anomalies, data quality issues, and opportunities for continuous improvement across Higher Education programs and operations.
- Integrate qualitative and quantitative data from multiple internal and external sources to generate meaningful insights that support academic quality, strategic planning, and institutional decision-making.
- Design, develop, and continuously improve data frameworks, indicators, methodologies, and reporting approaches aligned with Higher Education priorities, regulatory requirements, and organisational objectives.
- Support academic quality assurance and compliance activities by providing data analysis and reporting for course accreditation and reaccreditation, governance reporting, TEQSA submissions, internal reviews, audits, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with academic leaders, course coordinators, and key stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities in student and course performance, and provide data-driven recommendations to improve student outcomes, retention, progression, and academic quality.
- Prepare reports, briefings, dashboards, and presentations for executive leadership, Academic Board, committees, and other governance bodies, translating complex analysis into clear and actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including academic teams, IT, compliance, and data owners, to improve data quality, reporting consistency, governance practices, and institutional analytical capability.
- Investigate and streamline reporting and data processes through standardisation, automation, and the effective use of reporting and business intelligence tools and technologies.
- Maintain accurate documentation, data repositories, and reporting records to support audit readiness, compliance obligations, and ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Postgraduate qualification in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Information Systems, Education, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in business intelligence, data analysis, or analytical roles within the Australian Higher Education sector
- Strong understanding of Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF) 2021 and higher education reporting requirements
- Experience working with complex, multi-source datasets and developing analytical frameworks, measures, or methodologies
- Advanced skills in reporting and analytical tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL, or equivalent
- Experience supporting TEQSA reporting, academic governance, accreditation, or compliance activities (desirable)
- Familiarity with student management systems, data governance, automation, or AI-enabled analytics (desirable)
