St John Ambulance SA is a Health and Medical Services provider for many of South Australia’s largest venues such as Adelaide Oval, Adelaide Entertainment Centre and Adelaide Showground. In addition to this, St John Ambulance SA is the chosen provider for many major events on the SA calendar including Schoolies Festival, VALO Adelaide 500 and WOMAD.
For over 135 years, St John Ambulance SA has supported the South Australia community to help save lives and build community resilience to improve the safety and healthcare for all South Australians. In addition to Health & Medical Services, St John Ambulance SA also provides community care, is a licensed non-emergency ambulance patient transport service, delivers nationally accredited first aid training, and is the largest provider of first aid products and equipment.

Every shift is different when you’re part of our Health and Medical Services Team.
One day you could be providing care in the Medical Centre at Schoolies Festival, the next supporting patrons at WOMADelaide, working at a packed Adelaide Oval AFL match, or crewing a Patient Transport Ambulance. From major events and festivals to sporting venues and community gatherings across South Australia, you’ll be part of a team delivering high-quality patient care when it matters most.
With continued growth across our events portfolio, we’re expanding our casual workforce and are looking for passionate healthcare professionals to join us for immediate opportunities across Adelaide and regional South Australia.
What we’re looking for
We welcome applications from experienced healthcare professionals across the following roles:
Intensive Care Paramedics
You will have:
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Paramedic.
- Current Authority to Practice as an Intensive Care Paramedic (or equivalent) with an Australian statutory ambulance service; or
- A recognised qualification in Intensive/Critical Care Paramedicine with recent experience practising at this level.
Experienced Paramedics
You will have:
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Paramedic.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Paramedic with an Australian statutory ambulance service; or
- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience in a non-statutory setting, with current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (or willingness to obtain); or
- Equivalent overseas experience considered suitable.
Graduate Paramedics are encouraged to apply and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Ambulance Officers
You will have:
- Certificate IV in Health Care (or equivalent); or
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care (or equivalent); and
- Current Authority to Practice as an Ambulance Officer (or equivalent title) with an Australian statutory ambulance service; or
- Relevant experience as an Ambulance Officer in a non-statutory setting.
Clinical experience is assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Chief Operating Officer, taking into account your clinical setting, training and experience. Non-statutory settings may include private event health, primary or urgent care, defence, mining and other relevant sectors. ALS refers to current ARC Advanced Life Support Level 1 (minimum) certification.
