Description

The Accounts Assistant is responsible for reviewing invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies before approving payment. They code invoices in accordance with the relevant chart of accounts and verify all details against the corresponding purchase order or contract prior to processing payment. Each transaction is processed through a centralised system to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. The Accounts Assistant also generates reports from this system to support reconciliation activities and monitors the accounts payable budget to ensure expenditures remain within allocated limits. In addition, they ensure payments are made on time to support efficient monthly accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Entering invoices into Navison
  • Processing payments
  • Filing and maintaining supplier records
  • Checking and verifying invoices
  • Being the first point of contact with debtors chasing payment of invoices
  • Verifying and processing employee expense claims and managing the approval and payment process
  • Performing reconciliations including supplier statement reconciliations, credit card reconciliations and others
  • Supporting the month end process by providing supporting documentation for month- end journals
  • Performing other ad hoc tasks as required by their manager

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to review, process, verify and reconcile all payments and expenditures including payroll, invoices, superannuation and purchase orders
  • Addressing and resolving financial queries from stakeholders
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • A methodical approach and attention to detail
  • Experience in using Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in using Microsoft Navision
