South West Community Care (SWCC) is a local not-for-profit organisation and registered charity providing in-home aged care services across the South West.

Our Purpose: To help older people live safely, independently, and with dignity in the place they love – their own home.

We are governed by a volunteer Board of Governance and led by our Chief Executive Officer, supported by a Chief Operational Officer and Chief Organisational Officer. Together, they support more than 120 dedicated employees and volunteers who deliver care throughout the region. Position Purpose

Reporting to the Workforce Relations Manager, the purpose of your role is:

The Employee Engagement Officer delivers comprehensive, end-to-end careers and engagement support to SWCC management, line managers, and employees. This role guides stakeholders through all stages of the employee lifecycle – including recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, and succession planning—while ensuring alignment with organisational policies, procedures, systems, and compliance standards.

Position Responsibilities

As an Employee Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for and assisting with:

  • Maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring employment data is accurate, secure and compliant with legislative and organisational requirements
  • Provide guidance and advice on the interpretation and application of relevant awards, Fair Work legislation, employment policies and relevant workplace requirements.
  • Monitor legislative and industrial changes and support the implementation of compliant organisational practices.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance and support to team members by coordinating workloads, monitoring the quality and timeliness of work, providing on-the-job coaching,
  • Monitor and report on key HR and workforce metrics, identifying trends and preparing reports that support managers to make informed workforce and operational decisions.
  • Monitor mandatory training registers, complete regular compliance audits, and follow up outstanding training requirements to support workforce compliance and minimise risk.
  • Coordinate the employee performance review process by supporting managers to complete timely probation reviews and annual performance appraisals, providing guidance, coaching and practical assistance to ensure consistent and meaningful performance conversations.
  • Oversee the return-to-work framework, collaborating with leaders to champion proactive, safe, and compliant recovery-at-work outcomes for injured employees.
  • Design and facilitate employee engagement initiatives, deliver internal training, and provide coaching and support to leaders and employees to promote organisational values and build workforce capability in line with organisational strategies.
  • Support leaders to optimise workforce capability by promoting the right person for the right role, encouraging continuous learning, and assisting with the development of career pathways that contribute to employee retention.
  • Partner with our Workforce Coordinator to design, optimise, and evaluate the onboarding and induction experience, ensuring rapid time-to-productivity and strong cultural alignment for new starters.
  • Drive staff utilisation and engagement for key retention initiatives, including the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Salary Packaging, and broader corporate benefits.
  • Model and champion a high-performance culture across South West Community Care, building strong, collaborative partnerships with all internal and external stakeholders.

To thrive in this role you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Business, Administration or Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining a Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and compliance of employee records in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards (including SCHADS Award), National Employment Standards and contemporary human resource practices.
  • Experience monitoring, analysing and reporting workforce data and key HR metrics, with the ability to identify trends and provide recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating performance review processes, including probation, performance development and annual appraisal programs.
  • Knowledge of return-to-work principles and injury management practices, with the ability to support leaders in achieving safe, compliant and sustainable recovery-at-work outcomes.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding and workforce development initiatives, with a focus on improving employee experience, time-to-productivity and long-term workforce capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and identify opportunities to improve HR systems, processes and service delivery.

Office Base Location

Based at the Australind Office but will be required to work from other sites.
