The role:

We’re on the lookout for experienced Disability Support Workers to join a newly established team to work in South Brisbane, progressing to the Goodna area. We are looking for a team that can work at both locations to offer consistant support to our client.

In this role you’ll support NDIS participants with a neurological disorder, intellectual disability, high intensity needs and those with Positive Behaviours Support Plans. Some supports will be provided in a hospital setting.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering person-centred support and following individual care plans.
  • Supporting and supervising during hospital shifts
  • Providing personal care (e.g. hoisting, showering, toileting, dressing, mealtime assistance).
  • Assisting with High Intensity needs such as peg feeding, dysphagia and catheter care (full training provided).
  • Managing challenging behaviours and following Positive Behaviour Support Plan (training provided by Behaviour Support Practitioner)
  • Supporting with household tasks such as meal prep, cooking, and cleaning.
  • Assisting clients to engage in community and recreational activities (including swimming/hydrotherapy).
  • Ensuring safe, compliant practices in line with the NDIS Code of Conduct and WHS standards.

Shifts available:

  • Current in-hospital supports Monday-Sunday 0800-1600
  • SIL house shifts to be added later to support 24/7 care (0600-1400/1400-2200/2200-0600)

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience with high intensity needs, challenging behaviours and supporting clients who are non verbal is extremely desirable.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple shifts times and client/hospital locations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passion for working with people with disabilities.
  • Current paid NDIS Worker Screening check (yellow card) and Queensland Working With Children Check (blue card).
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Driver licence, reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
