Description

A sound assistant ensures high-quality audio by setting up and maintaining sound equipment, monitoring audio levels during shoots, and assisting the sound mixer. Their role is vital for capturing clear dialogue and sound effects, which are essential for the overall production quality. Working under the sound recordist, you’ll assist in making sure the sound recording process runs smoothly and safely while providing support to the entire sound department.

The below may be part of your core responsibilities

  • Replacing and changing batteries
  • Securing and monitoring cabling
  • Unloading, setting up and attaching mics
  • Daily de-rig and reload
  • Labelling sound media
  • Monitoring and recording background sound
  • Assisting in preventing unwanted noise
