About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Digital Skills Subject Matter Expert to support the development of short courses and enterprise-level programs focused on Digital Transformation, Data and AI for non-technical professionals. This contractor role will report to the Head of Digital Skills Programs and will contribute to both strategic product direction and learner-facing content development. The right candidate will bring practical experience working with organisations on Digital Transformation, Data and AI, and will be able to translate complex concepts into clear, practical and engaging content for professional learners.

The initial project will involve reviewing proposal concepts for two Digital Skills products, recommending evidence-based direction for their next versions, and generating learner-facing content for Learning Designers to develop into polished learning experiences. There is an opportunity to collaborate on further projects over the next 12 months.

Location: Online, from Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne or Brisbane

Remuneration: $106.25 ex GST per hour

Responsibilities

Product Concept Review and Strategic Direction

  • Review proposal concepts for short courses and enterprise-level programs focused on Digital Transformation, Data and AI.
  • Assess product concepts for relevance, currency, learner value, market need and practical organisational application.
  • Recommend major changes to product direction where supported by research, evidence, market insight or organisational practice.
  • Provide clear strategic rationale for recommendations, including implications for learners, organisations and product positioning.
  • Participate in strategic product discussions[TM1] on a project basis when required.
  • Work with the Head of Digital Skills Programs, who will approve final product direction.

Learner-Facing Content Development

  • Produce learner-facing content for non-technical professionals across Digital Transformation, Data and AI topics.
  • Generate approximately 30 pages of learner-facing content for each day of learning.
  • Support an estimated content pipeline of approximately 10 learning days per year, subject to project needs.
  • Create content that is clear, practical, current and suitable for short courses and enterprise-level programs.
  • Develop examples, workplace scenarios, case studies, discussion prompts, activities, reflection questions and practical applications where relevant.
  • Ensure content is accessible to non-technical professionals while maintaining subject-matter accuracy and credibility.

Collaboration with Learning Design and Product Teams

  • Provide structured content that Learning Designers can transform into engaging learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with Learning Designers, Product and program stakeholders as required.
  • Attend project meetings during business hours, with meeting times arranged in advance.
  • Complete content development work independently and flexibly outside scheduled meetings.
  • Review Learning Designers’ final outputs to ensure accuracy, currency, coherence and practical relevance.
  • Provide constructive feedback to strengthen learner experience and subject-matter quality.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience working with organisations on Digital Transformation, Data and AI.
  • Strong understanding of how organisations adopt digital technologies, build data capability, and respond to AI opportunities and risks.
  • Experience translating complex digital, data and AI concepts for non-technical professional audiences.
  • Proven ability to generate substantial learner-facing written content.
  • Ability to evaluate product concepts and recommend strategic direction based on evidence, research and practical organisational insight.
  • Experience working in consulting, industry, learning/product, workforce capability, organisational transformation or professional education contexts.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, structured and practical content.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Learning Designers and product stakeholders.

Highly Regarded Experience

  • Experience developing or contributing to short courses, professional development programs, enterprise learning or workforce capability programs.
  • Experience working with corporate, government or enterprise clients.
  • Familiarity with instructional design or learning design processes.
  • Experience reviewing or quality-assuring learning materials.
  • Knowledge of current trends in generative AI, data literacy, responsible AI, digital transformation, digital adoption and workforce change.
  • Experience creating practical case studies, scenarios, applied learning activities or workplace-based examples

Remuneration

This is a contractor role paid on a project or deliverables basis, with a day rate of $850 + GST per day.

The contractor will report to the Head of Digital Skills Programs. Meetings and strategic discussions will be scheduled in advance during business hours. Content development may be completed independently and flexibly, provided agreed timelines and deliverables are met.

There is an opportunity to collaborate on further projects over the next 12 months.
