Description

Project Engineer – Civil (Water Infrastructure, Mid to Senior)

Saltire Infrastructure is a growing civil and engineering contractor delivering water and wastewater projects across Western Australia.

We combine engineering, construction and specialist capability to deliver complex works, including on live water networks where continuity of supply matters.

Saltire is a place where people genuinely enjoy working together — a team built on trust, openness and accountability. We back each other, stay curious, and focus on delivering quality outcomes. Straight‑talking, practical and supportive is how we work.

Innovate. Deliver. Excel.

We’re looking for a Project Engineer who wants to get stuck into real work across Western Australia — from metro jobs to regional projects that keep your skills sharp. You’ll stay busy with a steady pipeline of varied scopes, have room to take ownership, be innovative, and work flexibly across rosters like 10/4 or 2/1. If you’re energetic, keen to learn and ready to step up, this role gives you the platform to progress quickly.

The Role

This is a hands‑on delivery role. You’ll take ownership of key project scopes from planning through to closeout. You’re expected to resolve issues early, keep delivery moving and run scopes with limited input from a Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project mobilisation and contribute to tenders, pricing and early‑stage planning
  • Deliver project scopes with control of programme, cost and resources
  • Resolve design, commercial and delivery issues early
  • Manage subcontractors, procurement and materials
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with HSQE requirements and promote a strong safety culture on site
  • Track costs, forecasts and variations
  • Oversee site progress and keep works moving
  • Maintain reporting and support project closeout

About You

  • 5+ years’ experience in civil construction or utilities
  • Background as a Project or Site Engineer with increasing delivery responsibility
  • Strong understanding of programme, cost and subcontractor management
  • Able to review technical drawings and specifications, identifying risks, errors and variations
  • Practical and comfortable on site, preferring to stay close to the works
  • Commercially aware, with experience in cost tracking, variations and reporting
  • Takes ownership and makes decisions to keep projects moving
  • Adapts quickly and works effectively in a fast‑moving, less structured environment
  • Willing to work across both metro and regional WA projects, including working away when required

Why Join Saltire

  • Growing presence across water infrastructure in WA
  • Real ownership of project scopes and outcomes
  • Work in a business where decisions are made quickly and delivery doesn’t stall
  • Opportunity to step up based on performance
  • Additional annual leave after 5 years’ service
  • Two wellness days per year

If you’re an experienced Project Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and driving delivery, we’d like to hear from you.
