About RSPCA Queensland

For nearly 140 years, RSPCA Queensland has been a leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to improving the lives of animals – whether domestic, farmed, or native. We care for over 42,000 animals annually, relying on the generosity of animal lovers like you to fund 91% of our life-changing services.

Our Purpose: We exist for animals to live better lives.

About the Role

Are you passionate about retail, sustainability and making a genuine difference in your community?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Op Shop Supervisor to join our Stones Corner Op Shop team in a permanent part-time capacity (16 hours per week).

This is more than just a retail role. As an Op Shop Supervisor, you’ll help create a welcoming shopping experience for customers, support and inspire our incredible volunteers, and play a key role in generating funds that directly support the lifesaving work of RSPCA Queensland.

Working closely with the Store Manager, you’ll help drive store performance, maintain high merchandising standards, and ensure the store remains a vibrant destination for bargain hunters, animal lovers and sustainability-minded shoppers alike.

If you enjoy working with people, have a passion for second-hand treasures, and thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, we’d love to hear from you.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a customer-focused retail professional who enjoys creating positive experiences for both customers and volunteers. You’ll bring previous retail leadership or supervisory experience, a strong eye for merchandising and store presentation, and a genuine passion for sustainability, community engagement and all things preloved.

Confident leading by example, you’ll be comfortable supporting and motivating volunteers, balancing competing priorities, and contributing to a welcoming, well-organised and successful store environment.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys working with people and is excited by the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to animal welfare through your work.

Please note: This role requires regular weekend availability.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the Op Shop.
  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience and create a welcoming store environment.
  • Assist with leading, training and supporting volunteers.
  • Drive sales and contribute to achieving store targets.
  • Maintain attractive visual merchandising and stock presentation standards.
  • Assess, sort and prepare donated goods for sale.
  • Assist with pricing and stock management activities.
  • Support register operations, cash handling and opening and closing procedures.
  • Help promote the RSPCA Queensland brand, mission and values within the local community.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Demonstrated experience in a retail supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with or leading volunteers (highly regarded).
  • Knowledge of fashion, clothing brands and retail trends.
  • Visual merchandising experience and a strong eye for presentation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Sound computer literacy and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A willingness to undertake the physical requirements of the role, including lifting, bending, reaching and manual handling tasks.

Why Join Us?

  • Comprehensive Support: Enjoy 8 weeks of paid parental leave, flexible working arrangements, study leave, and even leave for your furry companions. We also provide access to counselling and mental health services.
  • Employee Perks: From free on-site parking to exclusive discounts, novated leases, free pet vaccines, and 50% off Royal Canin pet food, we’ve got you covered! You can also adopt a new furry friend with free adoption options.
  • Professional Growth: Access expansive learning and development programs to help you elevate your career and skill set.
  • Purpose-Driven Impact: Be part of a mission-driven organisation where every task makes a tangible difference to animal welfare.

At RSPCA Qld, we encourage you to grow your skills, expand your responsibilities, and explore different career pathways. By enhancing your qualifications and capabilities, you can take advantage of internal opportunities across our many departments – from animal care to operations, outreach, and more.
