About RSPCA Queensland
For more than 140 years, RSPCA Queensland has been a leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to improving the lives of animals – whether domestic, farmed, or native. We care for over 42,000 animals annually, relying on the generosity of animal lovers like you to fund 91% of our life-changing services.
Our Purpose: We exist for animals to live better lives.
About the Role
Some people change the lives of animals today. Others create a legacy that helps animals for generations to come.
As our Donor Relationships Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping compassionate supporters leave a lasting impact on animal welfare across Queensland. Through meaningful conversations, thoughtful stewardship and genuine relationship-building, you’ll connect people who care deeply about animals with the opportunity to create a better future through their legacy.
This is far more than a fundraising role. It’s a relationship-focused position where you’ll spend your time engaging with supporters, understanding their motivations, sharing the impact of their generosity and ensuring they feel valued, connected and inspired throughout their journey with RSPCA Queensland.
Working closely with our wider Fundraising team, you’ll help grow and strengthen our Gifts in Wills program through personalised supporter engagement, community events, strategic communications and exceptional supporter care.
If you’re someone who loves connecting with people, telling meaningful stories and creating experiences that make a genuine difference, we’d love to hear from you.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an empathetic and highly engaging relationship-builder who genuinely enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life.
You understand that great fundraising starts with great relationships. Whether you’re speaking with a long-time supporter, hosting an event or crafting a thoughtful communication, you’re able to build trust, listen with compassion and create meaningful connections that leave a lasting impression.
You’ll be organised, proactive and confident managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of supporter care. Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about helping people make a difference for animals and ensuring every supporter feels valued, respected and appreciated.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Build and nurture meaningful relationships with Gifts in Wills supporters and prospective legacy donors.
- Deliver exceptional supporter stewardship through personalised communications, engagement activities and ongoing relationship management.
- Develop and coordinate engaging supporter events, presentations and experiences that strengthen connection to RSPCA Queensland’s mission.
- Create and implement supporter engagement, communication and stewardship plans that encourage long-term retention and advocacy.
- Share compelling stories and impact updates that demonstrate how legacy gifts help animals live better lives.
- Work collaboratively across the Fundraising team to support broader fundraising and supporter engagement initiatives.
- Utilise data, insights and supporter feedback to inform engagement strategies and identify opportunities for growth.
- Maintain accurate supporter records within Salesforce and ensure all interactions are appropriately documented.
- Monitor program performance, track key metrics and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Experience in relationship management, fundraising, supporter engagement, customer experience or a similar people-focused role.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage with supporters both in person and over the phone.
- A genuine passion for building meaningful relationships and delivering outstanding supporter experiences.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and care.
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office programs.
- Initiative, adaptability and the ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- High levels of empathy, emotional intelligence and discretion when handling sensitive conversations and information.
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel occasionally as required.
