About the role:

The Tyre Fitter is responsible for the fitting, maintenance, repair, and replacement of tyres on a range of vehicles and equipment utility vehicles, trucks, trailers, forklifts, agricultural machinery, and heavy equipment. The role ensures all tyres are maintained to a safe and operational standard, minimizing downtime and supporting efficient business operations.

Key operational accountabilities include:

Tyre Fitting and Repairs

  • Fit, remove, rotate, balance, and repair tyres on various vehicles and machinery.
  • Inspect tyres, wheels, and rims for wear, damage, and safety concerns.
  • Conduct puncture repairs and tyre replacements as required.
  • Ensure correct tyre pressure and wheel alignment recommendations are followed.
  • Perform tyre maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company procedures.

Vehicle and Equipment Support

  • Respond to tyre-related breakdowns and emergency call-outs.
  • Assist with servicing and basic maintenance tasks where required.
  • Maintain records of tyre replacements, repairs, and inspections.

Workshop Operations

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop and tyre storage area.
  • Monitor tyre inventory levels and report stock requirements.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and machinery are maintained in good working condition.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and handling tyres and related equipment.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and safe work practices.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and equipment defects.
  • Ensure all work complies with company policies and relevant safety regulations.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Previous experience as a Tyre Fitter or in a mechanical, automotive, agricultural, or heavy vehicle environment.
  • Knowledge of tyre fitting, balancing, repairs, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate tyre fitting and balancing equipment.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Experience with agricultural machinery is desirable
  • Forklift Licence is desirable
  • Certificate II or III in Automotive Tyre Servicing or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a workshop
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
