Retail Food Group is seeking an experienced Property Lawyer to provide expert legal support across its extensive national property portfolio.
In this role, you will leverage your technical legal expertise and sound commercial judgment to support the Group’s strategic objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring all property-related matters are managed in accordance with internal policies and relevant legislative requirements, while effectively mitigating legal risk and delivering high-quality advice to key internal stakeholders.
This role is on-site in our newly renovated Robina office!

What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of leases and related agreements, delivering outcomes that align with business objectives and minimise legal risk.
- Manage lease breaches and disputes through proactive management and commercially pragmatic solutions.
- Shape and enhance processes across the lease lifecycle, from initial negotiation to renewal or termination.
- Provide clear and actionable legal advice to senior leaders and operational teams on leasing, property and retail shop lease legislation.
- Monitor and interpret changes in legislation and case law, delivering timely updates and training to internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with external landlords, agents and legal representatives to achieve favourable outcomes for the business.
- Maintain accurate, compliant and accessible lease and property records.
- Conduct in-depth legal research and produce well-reasoned legal opinions that inform business decision-making.
- Support the Line Manager in reporting, strategic planning and other key initiatives.
- Provide other legal support and advice to relevant parties, as may be required.
What we’re looking for:
The ideal candidate is a commercially minded property lawyer with strong leasing experience, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. You’ll bring professionalism, adaptability, and sound judgment, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll also bring:
- Proven experience in property and leasing law, ideally within a retail or commercial environment.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial opportunity.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate experience professionalism, integrity and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in clear, business-friendly language.
- Advanced Microsoft Suite capabilities.
- Experience in using a database and record keeping systems, including Salesforce and Lease Eagle- or a willingness and capability to learn.
- Basic financial analysis skills.
- Willingness to adapt legal skills to new areas of practice.
- Willingness to participate constructively and positively within the workplace to achieve tasks in a timely manner.
- Good analytical and research skills together with an ability to apply legal skills to solve problems in different areas of law with a commercial or corporate focus.
- Willingness to apply initiative to ensure improve efficiencies, enhanced productivity, risk minimisation and improved outcomes.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws
- Current member of Queensland Law Society
- Current practicing certificate
- Minimum 3 years PAE
