The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager – Organics, this role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Static Pile Composting (SPC) Yard and In-Vessel Composting (IVC) facility. You will lead a small operations team, ensure safe work practices are followed, maintain product quality and keep operations running efficiently.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with experience in operations, manufacturing, recycling, waste, landscaping or a similar industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily SPC & DC Hall/IVC operations and support the wider Organics team
  • Lead, coach and support team members and contractors
  • Maintain safe work practices and manage fire risk controls onsite
  • Oversee Fixed & Mobile plant for sorting, composting, screening and grinding operations
  • Monitor stock levels, quality markers and production & key targets
  • Complete daily production & planning reports and ensure KPI data is accurately recorded
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance, fuel allocations and ensure pre-start checks & end of day requirements are completed
  • Run daily pre-start / toolbox talks and support training for operators
  • Work closely with our safety, environmental, maintenance, quality and operations teams to improve processes and performance

About You

  • Experience in a supervisor role within operations, manufacturing, recycling, waste or similar industries
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with demonstrated experience in performance management & engagement of the workforce
  • Demonstrated Safety focus with the ability to lead by example
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Strong planning skills focussing on cycles & rotations
  • Advanced computer skills to build & track data, including identifying process optimisation and forecast workflows
  • Proven problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Experience operating or working around heavy equipment & mobile plant
