About the Role
Relationships Australia Northern Territory (RA-NT) is seeking a passionate and skilled Children’s Counsellor / Group Facilitator to support children and families in Alice Springs.
In this role, you’ll deliver trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic group programs for children—particularly those impacted by domestic and family violence. Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you’ll play a key role in helping children and families heal, build resilience, and strengthen relationships.
What will you be doing:
- Be able to travel to Tiwi Islands on a regular basis (weekly during school terms).
- Deliver culturally responsive counselling to children and families (onsite and outreach).
- Facilitate therapeutic group programs for children.
- Support whole-of-family interventions, including parents and kinship carers.
- Manage complex cases using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.
- Assess client needs and tailor therapeutic responses.
- Advocate for children and families and connect them with appropriate supports.
- Maintain accurate case notes and comply with professional and legal standards
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to program development and community engagement activities.

To be successful, you will bring:
- Relevant qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling and demonstrated eligibility for or current membership of the relevant professional body or registration with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of counselling services to children using a whole-of-family approach on issues including complex trauma, grief and loss, and behavioural difficulties.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice including theories of child development, trauma and attachment theory.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills including the ability to represent the program and organisation externally.
