REFOCUS is seeking a Team Leader – Family
Services to provide operational leadership and practice oversight across
programs supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young
people, and families.
About the role
As a Team Leader – Family Services, you will:
Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support to frontline teams
Oversee program delivery across Family Participation, Delegated Authority, Community and Kinship Care, and Family Finder programs
Ensure services are culturally safe, trauma-informed, and aligned with legislation and standards
Support placement stability, reunification, and positive outcomes for children and families
Lead documentation, reporting, and compliance requirements across programs
Build strong working relationships with Child Safety, families, and community stakeholders
Pay and conditions
Permanent part-time position (4 days)
SCHCADS Level 6 (based on experience and capability)
Classification level and pay rate are assessed and determined based on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated capability.

- Experience in child protection, family support, youth work, or related fields
- Demonstrated leadership or supervision experience in complex service environments
- Strong commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed practice
- Ability to lead teams, manage performance, and support workforce development
- Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Qualifications and experience
Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Human Services, or related field
Minimum 3–5 years relevant industry experience
Knowledge of Queensland child protection legislation and frameworks
Additional requirements
- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Criminal history check
- Current Drivers Licence
- Ability to meet REFOCUS compliance and reporting requirements
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required
- Ability to work within the 10 Child Safe Standards
