Summary:
The Plant Metallurgist oversees and optimises metallurgical processes across the open cut gold processing plant to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production. The role focuses on maximising gold recovery and plant throughput through analysis of operational data, metallurgical testing, and close collaboration with operations and maintenance teams, while providing technical leadership in troubleshooting plant issues, implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements to drive sustainable improvements in plant performance.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Monitor and analyse plant performance data to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance throughput, reduce reagent costs, and improve gold recovery.
- Conduct metallurgical testing and analysis to support process optimisation and improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and support to plant operators and maintenance teams.
- Troubleshoot metallurgical issues arising during production and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and present technical reports, performance summaries, and improvement plans to management.
- Ensure all metallurgical processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and operational excellence
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Certificate S1, S2 & S3 (or equivalent) essential.
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a hard-rock mining operation
- Proven knowledge of gold extraction and recovery techniques.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Highly organised with strong time management abilities.
- Commitment to promoting and adhering to safe work practices.
- High attention to detail with the ability to follow processes and procedures rigorously.
