Join Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Services (PAMS) as a Registered Nurse
The
Registered Nurse plays an important role in delivering the Newman Clinic team’s
goals to manage illness, promote well-being, maintain health systems, provide
education and training and encourage community health action.
Key
Responsibilities:
- Provide
primary health care, assessments, immunisations, and chronic disease support
- Complete
Medicare health checks, care plans, and reviews
- Administer
medications and deliver patient education
- Triage
clients and maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Work
collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Support
clinic operations, stock, and staff onboarding
- Mentor
Aboriginal Health Practitioners and contribute to quality improvement
- Perform
other duties as required
About You
To be
considered for this position, you must have:
- AHPRA‑registered
Registered Nurse with 3+ years post‑registration experience
- Ability
to practice in line with NMBA standards or Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Health Practice Board standards
- Strong
primary health care skills: health checks, immunisations, RHD program,
antenatal, child health, chronic disease management
- Demonstrated
cultural safety, respect for Aboriginal culture, and willingness to engage in
intercultural learning
- Understanding
of Aboriginal health issues, health inequality drivers, and WA health
legislation
- Excellent
written and verbal communication skills
- Experience
working effectively in a multidisciplinary primary health care team
- Competent
using electronic clinical systems (e.g., Communicare)
- Current
Understanding Vaccines & National Immunisation Program Certificate (or
willingness to obtain)
- Current
First Aid or Intermediate/Advanced Life Support certification
The
position involves working with a multicultural organisation where the majority
of staff, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait
Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues
affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to
communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander people.

About the
Benefits

remuneration package including a base salary of a maximum of $96,350.67 to $110,564.61

About the
Organisation
With an
administrative hub based in Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia,
The Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) provides holistic primary
health care to the individuals and families within the remote communities of
Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji.
PAMS aims to
improve the standard of health of the Martu people and all Aboriginal people
living in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia through the provision of
community based, comprehensive primary health care services. We exist to
promote the health and well-being of individual community members and to
relieve sickness and the suffering of the indigenous community as a whole. We
are passionate about providing the highest standard of patient care whilst
incorporating a holistic approach toward diagnosis and management of illness.
