Description

Accountabilities: The Workforce Insights and Research Officer is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of Workforce Insights Report(s) through rigorous research, analysis, and content development. Working under the direction of the Workforce Insights Lead, this position gathers and synthesises workforce data and information, stakeholder input, and policy context to inform Workforce Insights Report(s) to address current and emerging industry sector needs.

Purpose: The Workforce Insights and Research Officer collaborates with stakeholders across industry sectors and government to ensure Workforce Insights Report(s) (which are a key to the workforce planning function of Public Skills Australia) are inclusive, responsive, and aligned with broader vocational education and training reform objectives. This position is essential to delivering high-quality, defensible workforce insights that shape system-wide improvements. This role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex findings into clear, evidence-based content.

Essential

  1. A Higher Education qualification such as a relevant Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree.
  2. Demonstrated research and policy skills and experience.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  4. Demonstrated capability to engage with stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
  5. Proven ability to facilitate workshops deliver engaging presentations.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of complex research methodologies.
  7. Operate with a high level of political acumen and corporate maturity to build relationship with senior and executive level stakeholders.
  8. Demonstrated experience in a project-based delivery environment at a senior level.
  9. Motivated to promote a curious and innovative culture across the company.
  10. Proven capability work on multiple products in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Demonstrated independent problem-solving skills and initiative.

Desirable

1.Experience working within a government and/or corrections environment.

2.Experience in workforce planning, policy development AND/OR strategic foresight AND/OR environmental scanning.
