Public Skills Australia (PSA) has been appointed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) as one of 10 Jobs and Skills Councils. PSA works with employer and employee representatives from the Public Safety and Government industry-sectors – Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Correctional Services, Defence, and all levels of Government – to ensure Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) system delivers better outcomes for learners and employers. A primary function of PSA is to provide workforce planning, industry intelligence and training product development in support of industry needs and government priorities.
The Risk and Compliance Lead is accountable to the Executive Advisor and works closely with staff in the Office of Executive Strategy (OES) and others responsible for governance, reporting and compliance. The Risk and Compliance Lead leads the implementation and monitoring of the corporate risk framework and is the steward of risk and compliance steward for the company. This
position is accountable for legislative and grant compliance and supports several key relationships including with the Board and the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee.
The Risk and Compliance Lead will maintain compliance registers, maintain legal compliance software, assess and ensure compliance with grant and legal obligations. The position resides within the OES and will manage the Governance, Risk and Compliance Officers. The position will work closely with the Governance Lead, Company Secretary, Executive Advisor and other members of
the Leadership and Executive team to provide proactive advice in relation to corporate compliance as and when required.
This position requires a combination of compliance expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the OES.
Key selection criteria
Essential
·Qualification(s) and/or equivalent experience/training relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
·Demonstrated experience at a management level.
·Demonstrated experience in risk and compliance.
·Demonstrated experience in reporting and working with executive level stakeholders
·Demonstrated ability to draft high level reports and support committees, including audit, finance and risk.
·Demonstrate the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
·Demonstrated experience in working with high level boards, councils and committees.
