About the Role

Join the Preston Hire team as a Yard Hand based at our Underwood, QLD depot. This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in keeping our equipment fleet safe, clean, and ready for hire. You’ll work alongside a supportive team in a fast-paced yard and workshop environment, contributing to smooth daily operations and excellent customer outcomes. This role involves manual handling, lifting, and working on your feet throughout the day.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Cleaning, preparing, assembling, painting, and repairing Preston Hire equipment for delivery and return
• Checking off platforms and cranes; safely loading and unloading trucks
• Maintaining a clean and organised workshop and yard
• Liaising with the Operations on deliveries and pickups
• Completing all required paperwork accurately, including pre-delivery forms, timesheets, and delivery/return dockets
• Working on customer sites when required, ensuring installations meet customer expectations
• Presenting professionally and maintaining confidentiality at all times

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To be considered you will need:

• Current forklift operator licence (LF ticket)
• Current valid driver’s licence (minimum C class)
• Right to work in Australia
• Ability to perform physical tasks including manual handling and extended periods of standing and movement

The following are not essential but will be highly regarded:

• White Card (Construction Induction Training -CPCWHS1001)
• Experience in a yard, workshop, depot, or labouring environment
• Welding experience or trade background
• Previous experience in the plant, equipment hire, or construction industry
