The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical or Hydraulic Technicians to join our teams in Henderson (Defence) and our Bibra Lake workshop with regular site work available. This role involves the manufacturing, repair, inspection, commissioning, and troubleshooting of various hydraulic components and systems, ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Pressure testing and flushing of hydraulic and piping systems
- Fabricate, assemble, and install hydraulic components and systems according to specifications and industry standards
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on hydraulic systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Inspect hydraulic components including cylinders, manifolds, HPUs, tubing, hoses, valves, and fittings to identify faults and reliability risks
- Oversee the commissioning of hydraulic systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet project requirements
- Maintain strong client relationships onsite while providing technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams
- Technical lead in hydraulic shutdown and field campaigns
- Support Project Managers and Engineers with technical planning, workpack reviews and shutdown readiness
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, service documentation, and client reporting as required
- Mentor junior technicians and apprentices, supporting skills development and technical capability across the team
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in hydraulic technology to enhance service quality and efficiency
Qualifications & Experience
- The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Relevant trade qualification or certification in hydraulics or mechanical engineering is essential
- Certificate IV in Fluid Power advantageous
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working on a variety of industrial hydraulic systems in mining, heavy industry, or fixed plant environments
- Strong understanding of hydraulic fault finding, servicing/repair, and testing/commissioning procedures
- Sound knowledge of fluid power applications, principles, and systems
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues within hydraulic systems effectively
- Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures in the workplace
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environmental conditions
- Valid Australian driver’s license is required
- Availability to travel to job sites as needed
- Previous mining shutdown and heavy industry hydraulic experience strongly preferred
