We are currently recruiting for a Compliance Officer to join our team in Toowoomba.
Reporting to the CEO, this role will lead our compliance framework across all service lines (financial planning, lending, and accounting), with a focus on our Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) program. You’ll ensure we meet all regulatory requirements and uphold our reputation for integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Compliance Program – Design, implement and continuously improve Power Tynan’s AML/CTF program and overarching compliance framework, ensuring we meet evolving regulatory obligations across our service lines.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting – Oversee client due diligence (CDD/EDD) and transaction monitoring, ensure timely submission of required AML/CTF reports (e.g. SMRs, TTRs, IFTIs), and maintain strict compliance with all relevant financial services, lending, privacy, tax and industry standards.
- Training & Culture – Lead compliance training and education for staff, provide expert guidance on regulatory requirements, and embed a strong culture of ethical practice and continuous improvement across the firm.
- Stakeholder Liaison – Prepare compliance reports for senior leadership (including the Board), liaise with regulatory bodies and auditors, and manage compliance audits, reviews, and incident reporting.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- 2+ years’ experience in AML/CTF, financial crime or regulatory compliance (financial services or similarly regulated industry).
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Law or a related field (ACAMS certification highly regarded).
- Strong knowledge of Australian AML/CTF laws, CDD/EDD requirements, sanctions, and risk-based compliance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to train and influence colleagues at all levels.
