About PlayHQ

PlayHQ is a high-growth sports technology platform supporting national sporting organisations and community sport across Australia and New Zealand. As we expand into new international markets, we’re focused on building a people function that can scale with the business.

We’re now looking for a Global HR Business Partner to support this next phase of growth.

The role

This is a hands-on role working closely with senior leaders across multiple regions to deliver people strategies that support performance, growth, and operational consistency.

You’ll play a key role in strengthening existing people frameworks while also establishing processes in new markets. It’s a mix of strategic input and day-to-day execution, with accountability for the quality of people decisions across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders across regions to provide practical, commercially aligned people advice
  • Translate business priorities into clear people plans that support performance and growth
  • Support international expansion, including working with Employers of Record and ensuring compliance frameworks are in place
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of employment legislation across relevant jurisdictions, with deep expertise in Australian employment law
  • Contribute to workforce planning, team design, and headcount decisions in collaboration with Finance and leadership
  • Support end-to-end recruitment activity where required, including role scoping, interviewing, and offer management
  • Oversee onboarding to ensure a consistent and effective experience for new hires
  • Support performance and talent processes, including goal setting, reviews, and succession planning
  • Manage employee relations matters as they arise, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent, and legally sound

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in a high-growth technology or SaaS environment (startups and scaleups)
  • Background as a first or standalone HR hire, with experience building or improving foundational processes
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, with exposure to multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience supporting a business through periods of growth and change
  • Confidence managing employee relations matters end-to-end
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial mindset, with the ability to align people decisions to business outcomes
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
