 Who we are

Established in 1994, Pilbara Meta Maya Regional Aboriginal Corporation (PMMRAC) is a not-for-profit organisation which delivers essential services (power, water and municipal) and community services (environmental health, housing and accommodation facilities) to remote Aboriginal communities across the Pilbara, Gascoyne, and Mid-West regions of Western Australia.

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Fitter / Diesel Motor Mechanic (Power Generation) to join our team on a FIFO 21/14 roster in remote Western Australia.

 Remuneration:$157,965  per annum + Superannuation + daily meal allowance

 The role involves the maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and repair of diesel generators and associated power generation systems used to supply continuous electricity to remote communities.

You will work as part of a two-person field service crew alongside a qualified Electrician, supporting the reliable operation of remote power generation equipment through planned maintenance and breakdown response activities.

 

This is a hands-on mechanical trade role requiring strong experience with diesel engines, generator systems, and field-based fault finding in remote environments.

 

Key Duties

  • Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel generators and power generation systems.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical and diesel engine faults, including basic electrical/control system issues related to generator operation.
  • Carry out breakdown response and field service repairs to restore generator performance and minimise downtime.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of generator systems in accordance with manufacturer and site requirements.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with WHS requirements, safe work procedures, and site standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records and maintenance documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with an Electrician as part of a two-person field service team.

About You

  • Trade qualified as a Diesel Fitter, Diesel Motor Mechanic, or equivalent mechanical trade qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in diesel engine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Experience working on diesel generators / gensets and power generation systems.
  • Strong fault-finding ability in mechanical and diesel systems.
  • Experience in field service, remote work, or industrial environments preferred.
  • Current HR or MR Driver’s Licence.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Check
