Property Legal Counsel 


An exceptional opportunity exists for an experienced property lawyer to join a privately owned property investment and development group.


As the sole in-house lawyer, you will work directly with senior executives and key decision-makers across acquisitions, development, asset management and leasing functions. This role offers broad exposure to the full property lifecycle and the opportunity to become a trusted adviser to the business.


This is a rare opportunity to move beyond transactional legal work and play an active role in commercial decision-making across a diverse property portfolio.


About the Role

You will provide practical legal advice across a diverse range of property, development and commercial matters, including:


  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial, industrial and retail leasing documentation
  • Manage legal aspects of property acquisitions, disposals and due diligence processes
  • Advise on development projects, planning issues and property-related matters
  • Draft and negotiate construction, consultant and development agreements
  • Review and negotiate commercial contracts and business transactions
  • Manage disputes and external legal advisers
  • Identify and manage legal and commercial risk across the portfolio
  • Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice to senior stakeholders


About You

To be successful in this role you will have:


  • Australian legal qualifications and current practising certificate
  • Approximately 5+ years’ post-admission experience
  • Strong experience in property law, leasing and development transactions
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Commercially minded with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience gained within a reputable law firm or in-house environment
