The Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Property & Commercial Lawyer with approximately 5 years’ Post Admission Experience (PAE) to provide legal advice and support across a diverse portfolio of property, leasing, construction, insurance, and commercial matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Draft, review, negotiate and advise on retail, commercial and industrial leasing agreements, including lease renewals, assignments, variations, licences and related documentation.
  • Manage property acquisitions and disposals, including conveyancing matters, due diligence investigations and settlement processes.
  • Provide advice on land tax assessments, exemptions, objections and reviews, including liaising with government authorities and external advisors where required.
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on construction and development agreements, including building contracts, consultant agreements, project delivery arrangements and related procurement documentation.
  • Advise on property development projects, planning considerations and associated legal risks.
  • Review and advise on insurance policies, coverage issues, claims management and contractual insurance obligations.
  • Provide legal support on commercial contracts and general business transactions relevant to property and operational activities.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks while providing practical and commercially sound solutions.
  • Manage disputes and claims relating to property, leasing, construction and insurance matters, including instructing and overseeing external legal counsel where required.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory development impacting property, construction, leasing and insurance matters.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex legal transactions, providing strategic advice to stakeholders, and ensuring legal compliance across a range of property and commercial activities.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Current Australian practising certificate.
  • Approximately 5 years Post Admission Experience (PAE).
  • Experience gained within a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in property law, conveyancing and leasing.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Experience advising on construction and development projects.
  • Exposure to insurance-related legal matters and risk management frameworks.
  • Experience managing legal disputes and external legal providers.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice to diverse stakeholders.
