About Peer Support at Peach Tree

Peer support roles involve gently walking alongside parents and families, drawing on your own lived experience in ways that feel safe, intentional, and supported.

In these roles, you may:

  • Co-facilitate peer support groups and programs
  • Help create spaces where parents feel safe to share and connect
  • Offer empathy, understanding, and hope through shared experience
  • Support access to helpful services and resources
  • Engage in ongoing reflection, supervision, and learning

These are designated lived experience roles, where your experiences are valued as a source of knowledge, connection, and care. Due to the peer-led nature of our service, an inherent requirement of the position is personal lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges, which is used intentionally and professionally to support others.

  • Hours: Part-time, flexible school hours (typically 9am-2:30pm)
  • Pay: $38.65 per hour + super + salary packaging (SCHADS Level 3)

About You

You might consider peer support work at Peach Tree if you:

  • Have lived experience of mental health challenges related to pregnancy, or early parenthood, and feel ready to use this experience purposefully
  • Are open to learning, training, and reflective practice
  • Value compassion, respect, and non-judgement
  • Hold or are willing to obtain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check), National Police Check, and Pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccination

You don’t need prior peer work experience. Your lived experience and willingness to learn are what matter most.

How to Express Interest

If this feels like a good fit, you’re warmly invited to submit your resume and a brief cover letter reflecting on how your lived experience has informed your approach, skills, and suitability for peer work. Please also let us know which location(s) you are interested in.

We appreciate the time and care it takes to express interest. While we may not be able to respond straight away, we will keep your details on file and may reach out if a suitable opportunity arises.
