Summary:

The Safety Advisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety standards within the building and construction industry. Based in Docklands, Victoria, this permanent, full-time position is essential for promoting a safe working environment, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The Safety Advisor will collaborate with various teams to implement safety protocols and foster a culture of safety across all projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in line with industry standards.
  • Provide training and support to staff on health and safety practices.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents and incidents, preparing reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure safety measures are integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics to senior management.
  • Stay updated on changes in legislation and industry best practices related to health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Previous internship experience in a safety role within the building and construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of Australian health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Certifications in First Aid and CPR are advantageous.
