The Role
We are seeking a fulltime proactive, dedicated and experienced Security Officer to join our team. You are a clear communicator, interested in the hospitality/ hotel industry and are passionate about always maintaining security safety and standards.
This is a full-time role that requires managing full security duties of our entire hotel and requires availability across a seven-day roster, including morning and evening shifts. The role reports to the Security Manager and you’ll be supported by an experienced team.
About You
You are a professional and reliable Security Officer who thrives in a dynamic hotel environment and takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming experience for guests, employees and visitors.
You will bring:
• Current NSW Security Industry Licence
• Current NSW RSA Competency Card
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Previous experience in hotel security, hospitality security, or a customer-facing security role will be highly regarded.
• Experience operating and monitoring CCTV systems (preferred)
• Knowledge of emergency response procedures, incident management and workplace health and safety practices
• Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel for email communication, incident reporting and record keeping
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all hotel departments
• Strong observation skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and respond to potential risks and incidents
• The ability to remain calm, professional and decisive in challenging situations
• A proactive approach to safety, security and customer service
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays
General day to day responsibilities
- Surveillance & Patrols: Monitor hotel premises through patrols, CCTV, and constant surveillance to detect and prevent security risks, hazards, and theft.
- Access & Key Control: Manage hotel entrances/exits, meeting rooms, staff locker keys, and access cards; ensure compliance with key management procedures.
- Incident & Emergency Response: Handle complaints, investigate and report incidents (injuries, thefts, accidents, vandalism, etc.), and manage emergencies including evacuations.
- Safety & Compliance: Actively participate in WH&S committee, enforce safety policies, maintain safe working conditions, and take corrective actions where necessary.
- Reporting & Administration: Maintain security logs, prepare reports, conduct audits (phone, keys, etc.), and keep supervisors informed.
- Guest & Staff Support: Collaborate with Front Office and other departments to resolve guest issues, support staff safety, and manage worker’s compensation claims.
Customer Service and Operational Skills
- Meets and exceeds Paradox Service and People standards
- Provides value added service to guests by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed customer expectations – remember some actions are quiet in delivery, but loud in impact
- Communicates effectively with guests, colleagues, and supervisors
- Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting colleagues as needed
- Handles sensitive situations effectively and according to company standards and policies
- At all times demonstrates respect for fellow colleagues, management and guests
- Respond to crunch calls when available
- Collaborate effectively with other departments including Kitchen, Conference & Events, and Front Office
- Assists other outlets as instructed by supervisor/manager
Pay & Conditions
The current salary range for the position is $65,000 – $68,000 base plus superannuation. You’ll be rostered on a rotating Monday–Sunday schedule in line with business operations.
