We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Community Centre Manager to lead the operations, growth, and sustainability of our Community Centre, based in Pakenham, Victoria.

About the role

As the Community Centre Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful operation and continued growth of the Centre. You will provide leadership to staff and volunteers, foster strong community engagement, oversee day-to-day operations, and identify opportunities to expand programs and services.

This is a diverse role that combines administration, customer service, community programs, financial management, and people leadership. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming and vibrant community hub that delivers positive outcomes, while operating within a sustainable business framework.

The position is full-time, with flexibility required to support occasional evening activities and participation in an after-hours contact roster. This role fosters positive workplace relationships and a collaborative team culture.

Key responsibilities

Leadership & service delivery

  • Lead the daily operations and strategic development of the Community Centre.
  • Support and mentor staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality programs and services.
  • Develop and evaluate community programs that respond to local needs and emerging trends.

Administration & operations

  • Manage rostering, enrolments, contractor relationships, and facility maintenance requests.
  • Oversee data management and reporting requirements, including Social Planet administration.
  • Coordinate volunteer programs and subsidy applications.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing, journals, and financial administration processes.

Customer service & community engagement

  • Support enquiries, enrolments, payments, and community engagement activities.
  • Ensure facilities and rooms are prepared and maintained for community use.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations and service providers.

Sustainability & growth

  • Manage budgets, financial reporting, funding requirements and grant applications.
  • Develop partnerships that strengthen community outcomes and organisational sustainability.
  • Support marketing and promotion of Centre programs and services.

Quality, safety & compliance

  • Promote a culture of safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with Outlook policies, procedures, and funding requirements.

About you

We are looking for a proactive and community-minded leader who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and creating opportunities for others.

  • Demonstrated experience in Neighbourhood House, community centre, or similar community-based program management (highly regarded)
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to support and develop team members
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Office 365 skills
  • Understanding of budgeting and financial management

 

Desirable

  • Experience working within a community-based organisation.
  • Knowledge of Social Planet or similar student management systems.
  • Experience preparing grant and funding applications.
  • Understanding of government-funded community programs.

Additional requirements

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check (Employee).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • National Police Check.
  • Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Certificate.
