About the role 

  • Hybrid and fully remote working arrangements available 
  • 0.8 FTE (4 days per week) 
  • Fixed term to 30 June 2027 (with potential for renewal) 
  • $106,148 – $111,307 + 12% super + 17.5% annual leave loading + 5 additional days health/wellbeing leave 

As Senior Advisor, Media, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering high-impact media and communications activity that strengthens our reputation and drives meaningful engagement with the community.

Working closely with the Manager, Media and Communications, you will lead the development and execution of proactive and reactive media strategies, translating complex issues into compelling, accessible narratives. You will be responsible for crafting media releases, opinion pieces, and briefing materials, while also responding to media enquiries and providing strategic advice to senior leaders.

This role is both strategic and hands-on – ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing competing priorities, and can confidently navigate sensitive or complex media issues. You’ll also build strong relationships with journalists, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure our work reaches and resonates with diverse audiences.

 

About you 

You are a skilled media and communications professional with a strong track record of delivering impactful media outcomes and building trusted relationships. 

You bring: 

  • Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, or public relations 
  • Significant experience in media relations, journalism, or communications 
  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, engaging content 
  • Strong judgement and confidence when managing reputational or sensitive media issues 
  • The ability to think strategically while also delivering high-quality outputs at pace 

You are collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working across a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders. You’re motivated by purpose-driven work and bring an understanding (or willingness to learn) of intersectionality and how it shapes effective communication.
