Responsibilities
- Fulfil responsibilities as a Registered Surveyor, ensuring compliance with relevant government legislation, regulations and guidelines.
- Support Survey Directors, Team Leaders and Survey Coordinator as required.
- Manage allocated client enquiries and assist with the scope definition and preparation of quotes and tender submissions.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, relevant authorities and stakeholders as required to facilitate project delivery and manage project-related communication.
- Provide strategic input and technical advice across the lifecycle of surveying and land development projects, from concept to completion in urban, rural and regional settings.
- Provide expert advice on land titling and land development matters.
- Undertake technical calculations for the preparation and delivery of draft and final cadastral plans and associated documents (eg. Boundary Marking Surveys, Deposited Plans, Strata Plans, Stratum Plans, Lease Plans, POSI, etc)
- Supervise and support the undertaking of survey work by other Survey Team members across cadastral, engineering, construction and infrastructure projects. Complete boundary fixation/definition approval, final review and sign-off for work undertaken by other Survey Team members as required.
- Provide peer review of cadastral documents prepared by other Registered Surveyors within the Survey Team as required.
- Provide technical guidance and training to Survey Team members as required to develop their knowledge base and assist with their career progression.
- Identify training needs of less experienced Survey Team members.
- Actively participate in Orion meetings and workshops, contributing positively to project outcomes and team collaboration. Actively mentor and act as Supervising Surveyor for Candidate Surveyors as required and as per Orion Candidate Surveyor pathway to
registration program.
- Assist and advise on the effective utilisation of various survey
technologies, software and equipment including Total Stations, GNSS Receivers,
3D Laser Scanners, UAVs and Hydrographic Sonar to support efficient workflows,
deliverable requirements and expected standards.
- Ensure all Environmental, Quality and WHS procedures and processes
are applied and documented throughout all project stages.
- Adopt, promote and adhere to Orion Group’s Integrated Management
System (IMS).
- Implement good practice, templates, policies and work tools that
support the ongoing success and growth of the business.
- Maintain personal CPD in accordance with BOSSI and industry
requirements.
- Attend company and industry events, seminars and
workshops as required
Skills and Expertise
- Expert understanding of relevant surveying legislation, cadastral processes, NSW LRS (or QLD DNRME) plan requirements, local council regulations, Orion Survey Team standards/expectations and surveying best practices.
- Expert cadastral surveying technical knowledge.
- Expertise in Subdivision and land development including strong ability to interpret land ownership boundaries and navigate associated legal
and regulatory frameworks.
- High attention to detail and accuracy including the ability to review and verify the accuracy of survey data, measurements and calculations by others.
- Ability to form strong working relationships with Government Agencies and provide insight and guidance on approval processes.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with clients and manage client relationships and expectations.
- Commitment to the continual review and improvement of work methods and procedures related to the Orion Survey Team regarding best practice in Environmental, Quality and WHS management.
- Ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple projects to time and budget expectations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making capability, with flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and a proactive approach to new challenges.
- Strong time management skills including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret and convey technical information clearly.
- Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within a team
environment.
- Ability to supervise, guide and mentor other Survey Team members.
- Commitment to professional ethics.
- Proficiency with modern survey equipment, survey
software and administration software.
