About the Role

OI Hospitality Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team at our Northern Beaches venues. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment and support the Head Chef in the daily management of kitchen operations.

 

The Chef will assist in supervising kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation, and maintaining food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing food and labour costs.
  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with established recipes, standards and presentation requirements.
  • Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
  • Assist with supervising and coordinating kitchen staff and allocating tasks during service.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Train and guide kitchen staff in cooking techniques, preparation methods and use of equipment.
  • Maintain stock levels and assist with ordering and controlling kitchen supplies.
  • Ensure efficient kitchen operations and maintain a clean and organised working environment.
  • Assist with menu development and seasonal menu updates in collaboration with the Head Chef.

Qualifications and Experience

  • AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, Diploma of Hospitality Management, or a related qualification, or
  • At least three years of relevant work experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment may substitute for formal qualifications.
  • Experience working in a high-volume hospitality or restaurant environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a professional kitchen team.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene standards (Food Safety Supervisor certification desirable).
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced service environment.
