Duty Terminal Coordinator

Mackay Airport is a key gateway to Central Queensland and an important part of the North Queensland Airports Group. We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Duty Terminal Coordinator to support the delivery of safe, secure and seamless experiences for everyone who visits or works in our terminal precinct.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic operational environment, has strong people skills, and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service. You will work closely with passengers, airlines, contractors, security personnel and airport key partners to support smooth and efficient airport operations.

This role is key to maintaining a positive experience for our customers and stakeholders, while supporting the operational readiness of Mackay Airport.

ROLE HIGHLIGHTS:

In this role, you will:

• Maintain a safe, secure, clean and customer-focused service at all times.

• Coordinate daily terminal operations to deliver an exceptional passenger experience, while maintaining regulatory compliance.

• Monitor operational assets (such as check in and security screening equipment), respond to issues and escalate faults as required.

• Attend and report on incidents, security issues, accidents, and near misses in accordance with airport procedures.

• Provide first response during emergencies as Chief Fire Warden and First Aid Officer.

• Liaise with airlines, security teams, concessionaires, tenants and contractors.

• Issue Visitor Identification Cards (VICs) and ensure access to restricted areas complies with aviation security requirements.

• Update flight information data systems to ensure accurate flight information is displayed.

• Maintain the Lost Property register and facilitate appropriate handling of unclaimed items.

• Provide limited airside safety escort for vehicles where required.

• This role involves shift-based work, including early starts and late finishes (including late notice overtime), weekends and public holidays, to support airport operations on a rotating roster.

ABOUT YOU:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a customer facing role.

• Advanced communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Strong problem-solving, decision-making and conflict-resolution capability.

• Good organisational and time-management skills.

• Experience in airports or regulated environments (highly regarded).

• Ability to follow procedures, manage tasks independently and respond calmly under pressure.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn airport systems.

• A current QLD Driver’s Licence.

• First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

ELIGIBIILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Unrestricted work rights in Australia

• Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
