Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced HD Mechanic Leading Hand to join our Hazelmere operations. This hands‑on leadership role is ideal for someone who leads by example, champions safe work practices, and takes pride in maintaining a controlled, compliant workshop environment.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will oversee a small, dedicated mechanical team responsible for servicing and repairing a diverse fleet including light vehicles, trailers, buses, and heavy trucks. You will be expected to model safe behaviours, ensure all work is completed in line with procedures, and maintain a hazard‑free, well‑organised workshop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety‑led diagnostics — Diagnose faults using safe isolation, inspection, and testing procedures
  • Safe mechanical repairs — Repair and replace components to manufacturer and safety standards
  • Component removal — Safely dismantle engines, transmissions, steering systems and other assemblies using correct lifting and lock‑out methods
  • Preventative maintenance — Conduct scheduled servicing to reduce breakdown risk and maintain compliance
  • Reassembly & testing — Reassemble components to precise specifications and verify performance through safe testing
  • Diagnostic equipment use — Operate diagnostic tools safely to identify mechanical issues
  • Safety inspections — Inspect vehicles, issue roadworthiness assessments, and document safety‑critical defects
  • Workshop safety leadership — Maintain clean, hazard‑free work areas and reinforce safe work practices across the team

What you bring

  • Trade qualification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Current HC/MC Driver’s Licence (preferred)

  • National Police Clearance (valid within 6 months)

Employment Details
