About The Role
The Yard Person role is a hands-on operational position that plays a critical part in ensuring the safe, efficient and dependable operation of our warehouse and yard functions.
The role is responsible for accurately picking and preparing customer orders, assisting with the loading and unloading of products, maintaining stock levels and supporting the overall presentation, safety and organisation of the yard. Working closely with customers and team members, the Yard Person helps ensure products are available, orders are fulfilled correctly and NHS continues to deliver outstanding service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick and prepare customer orders safely, accurately and efficiently
- Load and unload customer vehicles, NHS utes and trucks in accordance with safe work practices
- Assist with pass-ups and the safe handling of products during onsite deliveries
- Receive, move, stock and replenish timber, hardware, plasterboard and other building products
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse and yard environment
- Conduct stock counts and assist with stocktakes as required
- Follow Safe Work Instructions (SWIs) and all workplace health and safety requirements
- Participate in toolbox talks and contribute to a positive safety culture
- Work collaboratively with team members to support customer service and branch operations
