We are seeking an experienced and passionate Support Professional Team Leader to provide leadership, operational oversight, and high-quality participant support within our Disability Services division. As a Support Professional Team Leader, you will play a key role in leading support staff, ensuring compliance with NDIS standards, managing participant supports, and fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and support Disability Support Professionals.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Lead team meetings, shift handovers, and staff communications.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff members.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and participant-focused workplace culture.
  • Ensure staffing levels align with participant needs, service agreements, and NDIS funding requirements.
  • Support workforce planning, staff engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Participant Care & Support Oversight

  • Ensure person-centred supports are delivered in accordance with participant goals, preferences, and support plans.
  • Monitor implementation and effectiveness of individual support plans.
  • Promote participant independence, choice, dignity, and community inclusion.
  • Support participants with complex needs, behaviours of concern, mental health challenges, and high-intensity support requirements.
  • Oversee implementation of Behaviour Support Plans and restrictive practice requirements where applicable.
  • Ensure participant safeguarding and duty of care obligations are consistently upheld.
  • Support participants to develop skills, confidence, and greater independence.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure service delivery complies with NDIS Practice Standards, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements, and organisational policies.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, progress notes, incident reports, and service documentation.
  • Conduct quality audits and compliance checks.
  • Monitor restrictive practice reporting and compliance obligations.
  • Ensure Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements are followed across all service environments.
  • Support continuous quality improvement and best-practice service delivery.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, families, guardians, advocates, and carers.
  • Liaise with Support Coordinators, Allied Health Professionals, and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in participant reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, and care planning discussions.
  • Act as the escalation point for participant, family, and staff concerns.
  • Maintain professional communication and stakeholder engagement at all times.

Operational & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day household operations within Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments.
  • Manage household budgets, groceries, participant expenses, and petty cash where required.
  • Monitor medication administration and compliance processes.
  • Coordinate participant appointments, transportation, and community access activities.
  • Ensure properties remain safe, clean, functional, and compliant.
  • Assist with rostering and service continuity planning.
  • Support operational reporting and administrative functions.

Risk & Incident Management

  • Respond effectively to incidents, emergencies, and crisis situations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure incident reporting is completed accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff during challenging situations.
  • Support participants and teams following incidents or critical events.
  • Promote proactive risk management and participant safety.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent qualification; OR
  • Diploma in Community Services, Disability, Leadership, or a related field.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current Working with Children Check (where applicable).
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate or willingness to obtain.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher qualification in:Community ServicesDisabilityMental HealthLeadership and Management
  • Positive Behaviour Support training.
  • Medication Administration training.
  • Manual Handling training.
  • Mental Health First Aid certification.
  • Experience leading Supported Independent Living (SIL) services.

Experience Requirements

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 2–5 years’ experience working within disability services, community services, or Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments.
  • Experience supporting participants with Complex support needs, Behaviours of concern, Mental health challenges, High-intensity support needs, Restrictive practices
  • Previous experience as a Team Leader, House Leader, Senior Support Worker, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred practice and participant-focused service delivery.
