Description

Summary:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities in the Gold Coast area. In client homes or their community, you will provide compassionate care and support, ensuring that clients can live as independently as possible while receiving the assistance they need. Your contributions will be essential in promoting their dignity and well-being within the community. You will work as a member of the Gold Coast Team and collaborate with your team mates in the delivery of support to our clients, including completion of administrative & organisational tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Support clients in accessing community resources and social activities to promote inclusion.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, and other support staff.
  • Prepare support plans that describe the background, support needs and preferences of the people we support
  • Document and report on client progress and any changes in their needs or circumstances.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for clients, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or in the social care sector is required.
  • Certificate III in disability support, social care, or a related field is required
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a comprehensively insured (inc some business use) vehicle is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating empathy and patience.
  • First aid and CPR certification is required.Strong verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and their families.
