As the national peak body for 148 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs), NACCHO plays a critical role in supporting its members and influencing government policy, programs and system reform to strengthen health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created executive role and help shape the future of Aboriginal community controlled health care in Australia. We are in a period of significant growth, system reform and innovation, with new funding, evolving priorities and new ways of working. As Chief Operating Officer, you will play a critical role in building and strengthening NACCHO’s operational foundation, designing and embedding systems, structures and processes needed to support the organisation’s next phase of growth.
This role will be key to ensuring NACCHO is well positioned to achieve its strategic priorities. Working closely with the CEO and Executive team, you will play a central role in strengthening NACCHO’s operational foundation, ensuring systems and processes are efficient, compliant and fully aligned to support organisational goals.
In this role, you will:
- Lead organisation operational strategy and execution across all functional areas.
- Lead technology and system transformation to improve efficiency and reporting.
- Build scalable systems, structures and processes that support strong governance and a sustainable organisation.
- Collaborate with leadership and teams on budgets, forecasts and planning.
- Champion both member and team experiences in line with the NACCHO strategic directions and organisational values and behaviours.
What you’ll bring
You are an agile, collaborative and experienced senior leader with strong business and financial acumen, having overseen end-to-end corporate functions, including operations, resources, financial management and reporting. You bring extensive experience across both finance and operations, with a demonstrated ability to integrate corporate, financial and program operations to support strategic and outcomes. You apply a systems thinking approach and a growth mindset, while remaining focused on delivering strategic priorities with accountability, cultural safety and respect and a commitment to continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate
You will demonstrate:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, business or commerce
- Experience leading and managing corporate or shared services functions
- Membership of a recognised professional accounting body (such as CPA or equivalent)
- A collaborative and engaging leadership style, with the ability to influence at Board and executive levels
- A results oriented approach, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality outcomes
- Strong capability in overseeing complex operations, transformation and organisational growth
- The ability to design and implement effective, fit-for-purpose systems and governance frameworks
- A strong focus on achieving impact, driving outcomes and fostering continuous improvement
