About the role:

Recruiting a Inventory Controller on an initial 6 month contract. The role will be from Monday to Friday with a flexible morning start time (e.g. 6am – 2pm or 7am – 3pm).

The Inventory Controller is responsible for maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy and stock integrity across the Logistics department.

This includes managing cycle counts and stocktakes, investigating and resolving stock discrepancies, ensuring correct system controls in the ERP, and partnering with operations to prevent recurring variances and support reliable order fulfilment.

Key Responsibilities but not limited too:

Inventory Accuracy & Stock Integrity

  • Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP, ensuring correct stock on hand, locations, statuses (available/hold/damaged) and traceability where required (e.g., batch/expiry).
  • Ensure inventory is stored and controlled in line with site processes to protect stock integrity and reduce loss, damage, and write-offs.

Cycle Counts & Stocktakes

  • Plan and execute cycle counts (daily/weekly/monthly as required), ensuring adherence to the counting schedule and documented processes.
  • Coordinate periodic stocktakes (monthly/quarterly/annual), including preparation, count control, variance reconciliation and final reporting.

Discrepancy Investigation & Resolution

  • Investigate stock discrepancies including shorts, overages, mis-picks, location errors, damages, returns, and unexplained variances.
  • Complete root-cause analysis (e.g., scanning compliance, process gaps, incorrect transactions, storage discipline) and implement corrective/preventative actions.

ERP Controls & Inventory Adjustments

  • Process inventory transactions in the ERP in accordance with delegations of authority and audit requirements (adjustments, holds/quarantine, write-offs, transfers).
  • Maintain strong system controls and documentation, ensuring all variances and adjustments are supported by evidence and approvals. 

Operational Partnership & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Operations to embed strong inventory discipline across receiving/internal movements, replenishment, picking/packing and dispatch processes.

Reporting & Communication

  • Produce routine reporting on inventory accuracy, cycle count completion, variances, adjustments, aged holds/quarantine stock, and key themes/root causes.

Quality

  • Understand and comply with the Company Quality Policy and Food Safety & Quality System (including HACCP/GMP) as it applies to warehouse and inventory activities.

Safety

  • Work safely and comply with all WHS requirements, safe work procedures and site rules.
  • Report all hazards, injuries and near misses promptly via the required reporting system and escalate urgent risks immediately.

Skills & Experiences:

Essential

  • Proven experience in an Inventory Controller / Stock Controller / Inventory Analyst role in a warehouse/logistics environment.
  • Strong ERP capability (inventory transactions, adjustments, reconciliation) and high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate discrepancies, identify root causes and implement preventative actions.
  • Confident communicator who can work closely with operational teams and influence adherence to process.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel (filters, pivots, lookups/reconciliations).

Desirable

  • Experience working with RF scanning/WMS alongside an ERP environment.
  • Experience with cycle count programs and stocktake coordination.
  • Exposure to batch/expiry/traceability controls and quarantine/hold processes.
  • Understanding of audit requirements and inventory governance.
