Job Overview

We’re looking for a detail-focused Payroll Coordinator to deliver accurate and timely payroll while supporting staff and leaders with payroll queries. You’ll manage end-to-end payroll, reporting, compliance, and system maintenance, ensuring a smooth and reliable payroll service. This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities of this role include but not limited to

  • Administer and manage all aspects of the payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely processing in accordance with organisational timeframes and relevant legislation.
  • Provide expert advice on payroll matters including salary, allowances, superannuation, leave entitlements, and salary packaging, ensuring compliance with the SCHADS Award, Health Professionals and Supported Employment Services Award and the Fair Work Act.
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from staff and leaders, offering clear guidance on entitlements, remuneration, and conditions of employment.
  • Work closely with the People and Culture and Rostering teams to ensure alignment on contracted hours, rosters, leave, and pay adjustments.
  • Liaise with Mosaic’s salary packaging provider to manage staff packaging arrangements and updates.
  • Generate and reconcile fortnightly payroll reports, process PAYG withholding & Superannuation payments, and submit Single Touch Payroll (STP)
  • Full year end year-end reconciliations & processing, including uploading reportable fringe benefits
  • Assist with interim and end-of-financial-year audits, data certification, and respond to internal and external data requests.
  • Ensure payroll system records are current and accurate, supporting data migration and system setup as required.
  • Process workers’ compensation payments and claims, calculate average hours worked, and manage superannuation contributions.
  • Undertake additional payroll-related tasks and projects as directed

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 

Qualifications

  • ·Diploma in Finance, Accounting or Human Resources, or related qualification

 

Experience and Skills

  • Experience with Employment Hero highly desirable and / or other computerised Payroll systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with modern awards and industrial instruments (SCHADS and HPSS award experience would be desirable but not essential).
  • Extensive experience in managing the end-to-end Payroll function.
  • Significant experience in using a computerised Payroll system.
  • Demonstrated experience in Payroll related Workers Compensation processes and requirements.
  • Previous experience in the not‐for‐profit disability services/aged care sector is desirable.

 

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary payroll practices, including award interpretation and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and manipulation, with strong Excel and payroll system capabilities.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve payroll-related issues through sound problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Exceptional accuracy in data entry and record maintenance.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines in a high-volume environment.

 

Interpersonal and Organisational Skills

  • Excellent customer service skills, with a commitment to delivering accurate and timely support to staff and stakeholders.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex payroll matters effectively.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination abilities, with a proactive approach to managing competing priorities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll data.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining quality and accuracy under pressure.
