Description

More about More:

More and Tangerine are fast-growing Australian-owned telecommunications brands delivering high-quality NBN, mobile, voice, and business connectivity solutions to customers across Australia. Our mission is simple: to make connectivity easy to understand, so customers can spend more time enjoying their services and less time navigating the complexities of telco.

Backed by More’s strategic partnership with Commonwealth Bank, we’re reaching more Australians with innovative telecommunications solutions and investing in digital experiences that make connectivity simpler and more accessible. Guided by our values of Start with the Customer, Simplicity for Speed, Community of Individuals, and Collaborate to Win, we’re building a culture where people can contribute new ideas, make a meaningful impact, and help shape the future of telecommunications in Australia.

About the opportunity:

At More, we’re transforming our data landscape and are midway through our transition to Microsoft Fabric, building the data foundation that will underpin our next phase of growth. This is an opportunity to play a key role in that journey, helping shape the future state rather than simply executing against an existing plan.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll be responsible for shaping the end-to-end design, delivery, and continuous improvement of our data products and pipelines, working across Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, and Dataflows. You’ll partner closely with SMEs to transform source-level data into trusted, reporting-ready datasets while taking ownership of complex data challenges and driving them through to resolution.

This is a hands-on senior role in a small, high-impact team. You’ll help set technical direction, write production-grade code, troubleshoot complex issues, define engineering standards, and contribute to the roadmap – often all within the same week

You’ll be successful in this role if you have:

  • Demonstrated delivery of end-to-end data initiatives, from requirements and design through to implementation, operational support and continuous improvement.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, with a focus on scalable design, automation, reliability, testing and operational support.
  • Structured problem-solving capability, including incident investigation, root-cause analysis, impact assessment and durable remediation planning.
  • Proactive ownership mindset, high attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, small-team environment.
  • Supported team capability by contributing to documentation, runbooks, coding standards, reusable templates, peer reviews and practical data literacy across business and technology teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with confidence working across business, architecture, engineering and operations teams.

About you:

We don’t expect you to tick every box but we’re looking for someone with a strong foundation across several of the following skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, or a related discipline, including ownership of production-grade data pipelines and business-critical data products.
  • Strong Microsoft Fabric capability, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Data Pipelines, Notebooks and Dataflows Gen2.
  • Strong SQL and PySpark skills for batch and near-real-time processing, data modelling, metadata-driven pipelines and robust parameterisation.
  • Practical experience with medallion architecture, Delta/Parquet formats, Azure services, environment promotion and Power BI semantic model performance practices.
  • Sound understanding of security and governance practices, including data masking, role-based access, privacy compliance, backup/restore and audit readiness.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Dynamics 365/CRM sources and commercial or billing data domains.
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001 audits, Australian Privacy Act obligations, SOCI, Essential 8 and vendor coordination.

What we offer:

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements that support work-life balance, wellbeing, and collaboration.
  • 14 weeks paid parental leave as per the parental policy.
  • Free internet and mobile plan.
  • An additional day of paid leave to celebrate your birthday, plus a gift voucher.
  • Free access to confidential counselling and 24/7 wellbeing support through our EAP.
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
  • Supportive leaders and teams that value initiative, accountability, and success.
