The Role:
The Business Development Representative will play a pivotal role in driving growth and expanding market presence within the mining industry in North America. Based in Columbus, Ohio, this permanent, full-time position requires a proactive individual who can identify new business opportunities for clients and oversee divisional expansion projects within an established territory remit. You will build strong client relationships whilst contributing to the overall strategic direction of the company.
This role is not restricted to the listed location — while our office is based in Ohio, we welcome applications from candidates across neighbouring states.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing a successful strategy and approach to promoting a suite of divisional products for the business
- Building a portfolio of accounts, tracking performance, and ensuring that customers are receiving the best return on investment
- Sourcing new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls, emails, and meetings
- Engaging senior management and department heads to align financial management with short- and long-term planning and projections
- Working closely with new and potential customers to understand their requirements, determine their present and future needs, and propose suitable products and solutions
- Providing consistent reports on the status of new opportunities, existing accounts, and completed transactions
- Tracking sales account targets, aligned with company objectives, and monitoring sales metrics (e.g., quarterly sales results and annual forecasts)
- Suggesting actions to improve sales performance and identify opportunities for growth
- Resolving issues or problems that may arise following the introduction of a new product or service
- Educating and working to implement new ways in which customers can improve the usage of products and services
- Attending client meetings at various site locations to promote business services and help close deals
Skills & Experience:
- Strong planning and project management skills, proven ability to problem solve, negotiate, and influence
- Technical understanding of the product range and services, and its application to sales activities
- The ability to use initiative, be self- motivated, and self-managed within the context of the business
- Exceptional customer service skills with a practical approach to providing sales solutions and identifying opportunities for development of Minetek’s products and services
- A confident, co-operative, and friendly disposition towards staff, customers, and suppliers
- A willingness to network within the organisational structure of the customer’s operations, developing relationships with operational Managers, senior personnel, and other key influencers on site
