Description

Safety and Quality Officer – Help Shape the Future of Aviation Safety

Location: Moorabbin Airport, in Melbourne’s South-East

Full Time, Permanent

Are you passionate about aviation safety, compliance, and continuous improvement? We’re looking for a proactive and detail oriented Safety and Quality Officer to join our growing Safety and Quality team.

Working closely with the Director of Safety, Quality and Compliance, you’ll play an integral role in maintaining and continuously improving Microflite Group’s Safety Management System, Integrated Management System, Quality Management System, and Fatigue Risk Management System. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a diverse aviation organisation where safety is at the center of everything we do.

Why Microflite Group?

Microflite Group brings together three distinct aviation businesses – Microflite Aviation, Airlines of Tasmania, and Cambridge Airport, under a single group model united by shared purpose, strong capability, and clear alignment. Together, these businesses form a connected aviation group with a strong commitment to safety, excellence, and working better together.

Professionalism, safety, and people sit at the core of everything we do, and we are proud of the diversity of our operations, believing we are stronger because of our differences, not despite them. Working at Microflite Group means being part of an organisation that values expertise, encourages accountability, and recognises the importance of every role in delivering safe, reliable outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

As our Safety and Quality Officer, you’ll support the ongoing development and administration of our safety and compliance systems while working collaboratively with operational teams across the business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the administration and continuous improvement of our Safety Management System, Integrated Management System and Fatigue Risk Management System.
  • Assist with internal audits, compliance monitoring and regulatory inspections.
  • Conduct safety investigations, hazard assessments and risk assessments.
  • Monitor corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain policies, procedures, manuals and controlled documentation.
  • Analyse safety and fatigue-related data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare reports, meeting documentation and governance records.
  • Support compliance with CASA regulations, ISO 9001 requirements and company procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with operational, engineering and executive teams to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

What You’ll Bring:

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured, compliance focused environment and has a genuine passion for aviation safety. You’ll be highly organised, analytical, and capable of building strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation. You’ll also bring:

  • Experience in aviation safety, quality, compliance or a similar regulated environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of CASA regulations, ICAO standards and aviation legislation.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, investigations or risk assessments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and support continuous improvement.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to fostering a positive safety culture.
  • Previous experience as a LAME or equivalent qualification (desirable).
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor qualification (desirable).
  • Australian Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship.
