The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator to join our Brisbane team. You will play a key role in driving safe project execution, supporting compliance across construction sites and strengthening Mettle’s safety culture.
Working closely with the National HSEQ Manager, QSE Manager and Project Teams you will help implement WHS systems, support site teams and ensure compliance with WHS legislation, project requirements and company procedures.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of WHS practices across Mettle projects, including:
- Providing WHS advice, information and consultation to workers
- Assisting site teams in applying company WHS procedures aligned with project WHS Management Plans
- Conducting incident, injury and hazard reporting and supportinginvestigations
- Reviewing subcontractor SWMS and monitoring permit-to-work systems
- Conducting daily and weekly onsite safety inspections with Project Managers and Site Managers
- Delivering site-specific and mobile plant inductions
- Verifying emergency plans, plant checks, hazardous substance registers and site housekeeping
- Supporting ongoing improvement of WHS processes, culture and systems
What You’ll Bring
You are a proactive and detail-focused WHS professional who thrives in
a fast-paced construction environment. You’ll also bring:
- 5+ years’ experience in a WHS advisory or HSEQ role
- Formal qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety
- Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and ability to interpret relevant statutes
- Experience working within OFSC, ISO45001, ISO9001 and ISO14001 frameworks
- Experience preparing WHS/HSE documentation and contributing to risk mitigation
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to positively influence site teams
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant WHS systems
- White Card (General Construction Induction)
- Additional training in risk management, auditing or incident investigation (desirable)
