We are looking for a commercially minded Licensing Manager or Assistant Licensing Manager to join our growing team. The level of appointment will reflect the successful candidate’s experience. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of brands, products, retail and culture – ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, spotting opportunities and moving ideas from first conversation to market.
Reporting to a Senior Licensing Director, you will manage an exciting brand portfolio and work closely with global brand owners, licensees, retailers and our internal marketing, creative and operations teams to drive commercial growth and deliver outstanding licensing programs.
WHAT YOU”LL MAKE HAPPEN
- Own the day-to-day management of licensing activity across consumer products and other commercial brand partnerships
- Help shape and execute annual licensing strategies, category plans and commercial priorities for your portfolio.
- Identify white-space opportunities, develop compelling proposals and convert them into new licensing, retail and promotional partnerships·
- Build trusted, productive relationships with brand owners, licensees, retailers and other commercial
partners.
- Coordinate opportunities from initial pitch through deal memo, contract, product development, approvals and launch.
- Guide licensees through product development and brand approvals, balancing creative ambition, brand integrity and commercial outcomes.
- Create persuasive client presentations, retail reviews, sales reports, forecasts and commercial
recommendations.
- Track program performance and use sales data, market intelligence and consumer trends to identify the next growth opportunity.
- Collaborate with marketing, creative and operations colleagues to maximise the impact of every program.
- Represent Merchantwise confidently in retailer meetings, client presentations and industry events.
ABOUT YOU
You will bring:
- At least three years’ relevant experience in brand licensing, consumer products, brand or category management, retail buying or a related commercial role.
- A strong commercial mindset, with the curiosity and judgement to uncover opportunities and turn them into practical action.
- Confidence building relationships and influencing stakeholders at different levels and across different organisations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make a clear, persuasive case.
- Strong organisation and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple brands, deadlines and priorities at once.
- Experience working with product development approvals, contracts or commercial programs.
- Comfort working with sales data, forecasts and market insights to support decisions.
- High attention to detail, personal accountability and the confidence to work autonomously while contributing to a close-knit team.

SALARY: $85,000-$110,000 plus super, depending on experience.
