MEC continues to experience strong growth with an increasing pipeline of environmental approvals, impact assessment and advisory projects across Queensland and interstate. 

This growth presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced environmental consultant to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and helping clients navigate complex environmental and regulatory challenges. 

The type of projects currently being delivered by our team include: 

  • QLD and Federal impact assessments and approvals for both metals and coal projects 
  • Northern Territory metals mine expansions 
  • Operational and compliance support for a variety of metals and coal projects  
  • Mine rehabilitation planning and execution support 

About the role

In this role, you will lead and support complex environmental approvals and impact assessment projects that directly influence major developments across Australia’s resource and energy sectors. You will coordinate specialist technical inputs, manage specialist subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams, and integrate environmental, social and technical studies into clear, high-quality deliverables. Working across approvals strategies, impact assessments and mine closure planning, you will help clients navigate complex regulatory requirements and deliver responsible project outcomes.

About you

You are a skilled environmental professional who combines technical expertise with strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities. 

You will ideally have: 

  • 6+ years’ experience in environmental consulting or a related field. 
  • Formal qualifications in environmental management, science or engineering disciplines (required). 
  • Demonstrated experience preparing or managing Environmental Impact Assessments and environmental approvals documentation. 
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory processes. 
  • Exceptional written communication and report-writing skills. 
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder engagement skills. 
  • A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
